Algeria – USA: an American trade official soon in Algiers

Relations between Algeria and the United States of America are solid and marked by bilateral cooperation in several areas. Moreover, this partnership was on the menu of the visit made by the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to Algeria last March. Another American official is about to begin a visit to Algeria, this time it is the Special Representative for Trade, Dilawar Syed.

In a publication posted on Tweeter this October 1, the US Special Representative for Trade, Dilawar Syed, indicated that he will soon begin a visit to Algeria. Adding that this visit “will be an opportunity to meet Algerian businessmen, entrepreneurs in the digital field. But also officials and members of the Government. And this, “with the aim of discussing the strengthening of bilateral economic cooperation”.

Currently visiting Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Representative Dilawar Syed welcomed this upcoming visit to Algeria and took the opportunity to recall the fact that “Algeria is a long-standing partner of the United States”. .

Moreover, the Embassy of the United States in Algeria took up the tweet of the American Special Representative for Trade, welcoming him to Algeria. US Ambassador Elizabeth Aubin also welcomed the visit, saying she was looking forward to introducing Algerian businessmen to Representative Dilawar Syed to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

On the sidelines of the work of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ramtane Lamamra, met with several of his counterparts as well as diplomats in New York (United States), in like the head of the US State Department, in charge of Near Eastern Affairs, Barbara Leaf, and the US Under-Secretary of State, Wendy Sherman.

During her meeting with Minister Ramtane Lamamra, Barbara Leaf described Algeria as a “solid” partner for peace and stability in the region and the African continent. And this, by emphasizing “the efforts of Algeria at the Arab and African level in the service of the objectives of peace and stability”.

For her part, Wendy Sherman assured that the relationship between Algeria and the United States was “solid and lasting”. In addition, the number two of American diplomacy returned to her meeting with Ramtane Lamamra, saying she was looking forward to continuing to deepen the bilateral relationship.
