July 20 (Reuters) – Top stocks to watch on Wednesday on Wall Street, where futures are signaling a slightly lower open:

* NETFLIX NFLX.O – The American streaming giant gained 7.9% in pre-market trading after reporting a loss of 970,000 subscribers in the April-June period on Tuesday, avoiding the worst-case scenario the group feared . Netflix also expects its subscriber numbers to pick up again in the current quarter. The group also announced the acquisition of the Australian animation studio, Animal Logic.

Stifel raises its recommendation to “buy” versus “hold”.

* ABBOTT ABT.N was up 2% on the market after raising its annual profit target on strong demand for its medical devices and diagnostics.

* BIOGEN BIIB.O saw its profit more than double in the second quarter with the sale of its stake in the joint venture Samsung Bioepis which brought in $1.5 billion. The pharmaceutical company, however, lost 3% before the market.

* BAKER HUGHUES BKR.N widened its losses in the second quarter, due to a charge of $365 million related to the shutdown of its activities in Russia and inflation. The title fell by 6% before the market.

* NASDAQ NDAQ.O – The American stock market operator on Wednesday published a 10% drop in its profit for the second quarter due to the increase in its expenses.

* BOEING BA.N – Air India has said it is getting closer to a decision on an order for planes worth 50 billion dollars to be divided between Airbus AIR.PA and Boeing, under the management of its new owner, Tata Group. The order is expected to include up to 70 widebodies, including Airbus A350s and Boeing 787s and 777s, and up to 300 single-aisle jets, according to the two manufacturers.

* MERCK MRK.N said on Wednesday its Keytruda treatment failed to meet the primary endpoint of a late-stage trial in cancer patients. The title yielded 2% in pre-market.

* ELEVANCE HEALTH ELV.N has raised its full-year profit forecast after posting a better-than-expected profit in the second quarter on the back of strong performance from its pharmaceutical benefits management unit, IngenioRx.

* TESLA TSLA.O – A Florida jury has found the electric car maker was only 1% responsible for the death of an 18-year-old man whose Model S sedan slammed into a concrete wall after deactivation of the speed limiter, the driver and his father having been found to be 99% responsible.

The group will publish its quarterly results after closing.

* American operators of LAS VEGAS SANDS casinos

LVS.N , WYNN RESORTS WYNN.O , MELCO RESORTS MLCO.O and MGM RESORTS MGM.N gain between 1.3% and 3.9% in pre-market after the announcement of the reopening of casinos in Macau.

* NOVAVAX NVAX.O – The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Tuesday recommended the use of the pharmaceutical group’s COVID-19 vaccine for people ages 18 and older. The title gained 1.2% in pre-market.

* OMNICOM OMC.N – The title took nearly 7% in preview after the publication by the American advertising group of a turnover and a quarterly profit above expectations.

* CHEVRON CVX.N – HSBC raises its recommendation to “buy” versus “hold” and lowers its price target from $183 to $167.

* CONOCOPHILLIPS COP.N , EOG RESOURCES EOG.N , PIONEER NATURAL RESOURCES CO PXD.N – MKM Partners begins monitoring the three stocks with a “buy” recommendation.

* OCCIDENTAL PETROLEUM OXY.N – MKM Partners begins the follow-up with a recommendation at “neutral” and a price target of $65.
