The Lakers have not yet completed their roster for the new season, while the front office still hopes to recover Kyrie Irving in the coming weeks. In the meantime, there is another player who could sign soon, in order to strengthen the roster. Discussions have taken place, even if competition exists. We are reviewing this case.
Logically disappointed after the last season, the Lakers want to bounce back next year with the title. But given the competition, Darvin Ham’s men will have to be very serious, while an improvement in the roster would be preferable. Rob Pelinka is still hoping for a visit from Kyrie Irvingbut the Nets are very greedy in this file, even if it means keeping the player for the start of the exercise.
It’s quite possible that fans will be quite disappointed in this case, since Kyrie may not be coming to California. Still, the front office is following several leads, including two other players to strengthen this squad, who needs it so much. While waiting for the rest, and to fill the roster, it is a veteran who could return to the City of Angels after a mixed season: Carmelo Anthony.
A confirmed return for the Lakers?
A time announced for retirement, Melo has bounced back perfectly at the Blazers. Last year, he made the Angelinos happy with some big performances, even if his defense remains a problem. But the Purple and Gold are interested in the idea of keeping it, to the point that conversations have recently taken place. Nothing is confirmed yet, especially since the competition exists, but Los Angeles seems to have the advantage.

The Lakers have had “productive discussions” regarding the idea of bringing back Carmelo Anthony. Other teams are also in on it.
As we said, Melo dropped some good performances, so his presence on the bench wouldn’t be the worst news. But in what role? His defense remains a problem, and we know that Ham is betting a lot on it. For some fans, not sure if the former Knick is the best choice:
I love Carmelo but defensive liability

I love Carmelo but he’s a problem in defense
Carmelo Anthony soon to return to the Lakers? The idea is posed, and we imagine that conversations have taken place. It remains to be seen whether Darvin Ham is interested, he who relies so much on defense for his first season as a coach. Melo is not really the best fit in this regard, far from it.
