Kevin Durant has been linked to Golden State for a while now, and some remain confident that he will indeed make a comeback with the Californians. However, the front office of the defending champion has just released a clear statement on the subject.
At the moment, no one can say for sure where will play Kevin Durant in 2022-23. There’s a good chance the winger will stay at the Nets, despite having expressed his wish to leave the New York superteam. If some observers still see the Heat and the Suns, his favorite destinations, getting their hands on him, they are becoming increasingly rare. Quite the opposite of those who believe in a comeback of the 2014 MVP on the side of the Warriors.
Indeed, the Dubs are considered the big favorites to its acquisition, thus reforming the Big Four of madness which had led them to two titles, in 2017 and 2018. And until now, the leaders had not really taken a position. on the matter…which however changed through Bob Myers. During an interview conducted by NBA.com, the GM of the Bay was logically asked the question. And his answer seems definitive:
Bob Myers cuts Kevin Durant’s comeback short
I caught up with Warriors GM Bob Myers at the ESPYs. Considering what Myers said here generally, safe to say Warriors don’t plan to reunite with Kevin Durant. Myers: “I like our team and where it’s at. I want to give the guys a chance to do it again.” https://t.co/rBinmolg4O pic.twitter.com/eVN1ADLiOa

I like our team where it is. I want to give the guys a chance to do it again. It’s a good band. We are lucky. It will be fun to see. We were really on the hunt last year. Now I guess we’re the hunted again, which I didn’t think we would be. We’ll see. I think we can bear it.
In other words, what could have been one of the most controversial reunions in history should therefore not take place. The Dubs are confident in their current group, they who have just succeeded a stroke of genius at 61 million dollars. Recruiting KD would then not be in the front office’s plans, although it could obviously be a strategic statement. On the side of the fans, it would seem in any case that the exit of Myers causes relief:

Kevin Durant returning to the Warriors? Don’t count on it too much, says Bob Myers. That being said, it would be better to follow the actions of the Californians in the days to come. You never know, maybe they’ll turn around.
