The Lakers are far from having finished their shopping in this free agency, and continue to probe the market. One player in particular would have caught the attention of the Californians, who should try their luck on the file. On the other hand, it will not be easy to acquire the person concerned.
Despite the fact that their salary cap is blocked, with in particular the three contracts of the Big Three, the Lakers are doing everything they can to complement their workforce as well as possible. A few role players have already been recruited by the franchise, while waiting to attract a bigger fish. On this subject, LA could also relaunch an old track still available, a move that could really please LeBron James in particular.
Among the other sites, the Pourpres et Ors also wish to strengthen their interior sector, which has been rather fragile during this year. For this, the leaders have already targeted a few profiles likely to interest them on the market. A priori, a particular name would also stand out, according to local insider Brad Turner: Thomas Bryant, pivot of the Wizards who is at the end of the contract.
The Lakers on the trail of Thomas Bryant
Sources: Lakers have a strong interest in reuniting with free-agent center Thomas Bryant, but with LA just having the veteran minimum to offer he’s in no rush to make a decision. Plus, the Lakers have competition for the services of Bryant, as Toronto is also interested.

The Lakers have expressed a strong interest in bringing back free agent pivot Thomas Bryant, but given LA only has the veteran minimum to offer him, he’s in no rush to make a decision. Additionally, the Lakers have competition for Bryant’s services, as Toronto is also interested.
The interested party is indeed a former home, having made his debut in the big league in the City of Angels in 2017-18.
After a year, he had gone to the Wizards where he had demonstrated real potential, turning over 11 points and 6 rebounds on average. Unfortunately for the 2020 champion, his finances mean he’s probably not the most attractive destination for the player. The Raptors, for example, are much more so, and they could even be so sincethey would be able to surprise Kevin Durant.
On the other hand, not getting the capital big man wouldn’t necessarily be that bad for the Angelinos. Indeed, if he is talented, the native of Rochester is also particularly prone to injuries. Over the last three seasons, he has only played 83 games, barely more than a full campaign. It was even only 10 games in 2021-22… not necessarily ideal for LA which already has a fragile interior with Anthony Davis.
Thomas Bryant is very popular with the Lakers, but a return to the fold after four years is far from guaranteed. Not sure, however, that he helps solve their problems, if he continues to permanently squat the infirmary.
