Sébastien Desclée, a Belgian in the land of kiwis – Companies

Throughout the summer, the “Trends Summer Talks” pay tribute to the great Belgian bosses living abroad. Focus this weekend on Sébastien Desclée, CEO of FCB New Zealand, a network of communication agencies based in Auckland, on the other side of the planet.

A graduate of the Louvain School of Management, Sébastien Desclée took his first professional steps at Procter & Gamble from 2000 to 2007, first as a financial analyst then in the marketing department, before being poached in 2007 by Publicis to revitalize the Belgian subsidiary of the French advertising group.

On the strength of his good results, he became CEO of Publicis Belgium in 2011, before opting, two years later, for a more international career within FCB, a vast network of communication agencies which belongs to the Interpublic group, one of the “Big Four” of the advertising world.

Sébastien Desclée first took on the role of president of international markets, but for a year, it is in New Zealand that he settled with wife and children. In this new episode of the “Trends Summer Talks”, the Belgian CEO of FCB New Zealand looks back on his career and his missions, but also talks to us about his challenges, in particular that of better understanding the intricacies of Maori culture, very present in New Zealand. Zeeland:
