This 2022 draft raises a lot of expectations. Indeed, while the franchises that have obtained very big talents, such as the Orlando Magic, the Oklahoma City Thunder or the Houston Rockets are eager to see their nuggets tread the NBA floors, some supporters want to see if these players are capable of assuming their words. Several prospects have already been talked about, including Bennedict Mathurin, for whom LeBron James will have to prove that he is better than him.
While the draft has taken place and each franchise is now focused on the Summer League, which will be an opportunity to see their new players at work, some are already starting to stand out. Many have already shown what they are capable of on the NCAA courts in particular, and now stand out with their media releases. When the selection had not yet taken place, Chet Holmgrennow at Oklahomastood out by declaring that he could join a very restricted club: “I feel like I’m already a top shooter on all sides of the court, but at the end of the day, I feel like I have to step it up a notch, to take it to another level. I think I can be a 50-40-90 player”. However, shooting at 50% success, including 40% from 3 points and 90% from free throws, is not given to everyone, since only 9 players have succeeded since the 1979-1980 season, as Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving. He did not hesitate to go even further in his remarks by declaring: “The best player in the NBA? Me in two months ». Selected in 7th position by the Portland Trail Blazers, Shaedon Sharpe is no exception. If he is considered one of the prospects with the highest potential of this draft, he was still too confident according to some supporters, dropping: “I see myself as one of the greatest players to ever play basketball”. However, Holmgren and Sharpe are not the only ones to talk about them since Bennedict Mathurin downright provoked a basketball legend, LeBron James.

“LeBron is going to have to show me that he is better than me”
Bennedict Mathurin is one of the most anticipated players of this promotion. Author of very good performances with the Arizona Wildcats, where he was shooting 17.7 points on 45% shooting; 5.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game this season, the 20-year-old was selected in 6th place, by the Indiana Pacers. The native of Montreal comes to reinforce a back-court already provided with Malcolm Brogdon, Tyrese Haliburton or Chris Duarte, but intends to impose itself in this workforce. Indeed, the rookie already seems to have a high self-esteem, and does not hesitate to provoke one of the best players in the history of this sport. In an interview, mathurin sent a message to LeBron James : “I don’t think anyone is better than me. LeBron is going to have to show me that he’s better than me. »
