Alvin Kamara charged with assault

The Pro Bowl was taking place in Las Vegas, and it was seemingly inevitable that a player would not find himself in trouble with the law. According to ESPN, Alvin Kamara (RB, Saints) was arrested on assault charges on Sunday. He is accused of injuring someone in a nightclub the day before the Pro Bowl.

The police were called to a hospital at 5:50 p.m. to meet the victim. The police would then have determined that Kamara was the perpetrator of the attack. The charges suggest serious injuries.

The Saints player was arrested after catching 4 balls for 23 yards during Sunday’s game. He spent the night from Sunday to Monday in prison. A hearing is scheduled for Monday. His bail was set at $5,000.

Lovie Smith coach of the Texans, it’s heating up

The Texans are in talks with Lovie Smith, their defensive coordinator, for the position of head coach.

According to ESPN, Josh McCown is now out of the running for the job. In addition, if Smith is hired, it is Pep Hamilton, the current Houston quarterbacks coach, who should be promoted to offensive coordinator.

Lovie Smith has already been a head coach for many years, it was with the Bears from 2004 to 2012, then with the Buccaneers in 2014 and 2015. He had been voted coach of the year in 2005, when his team had reached the Super Bowl with Rex Grossman as quarterback.

ESPN also reports that Jonathan Gannon (DC, Eagles) has been told he won’t get the job in Houston.

Coaches, coaches, coaches

– The Steelers are said to be finalizing the contract that will make Teryl Austin their new defensive coordinator. The latter had already been on the staff since 2019 in a role of defensive assistant and air cover coach. (ESPN)

– The Dolphins would target Vic Fangio for their position as defensive coordinator. (South Florida Sun Sentinel)

Trevor Lawrence happy to hire Doug Pederson

He will certainly not say the opposite, but Trevor Lawrence welcomed the hiring of Doug Pederson as Jaguars coach. For a reason that is also objective.

“He played quarterback, so he sees things more from my perspective than a lot of coaches who haven’t played that position,” Lawrence told his team’s official website.
