A 26-year-old goalkeeper against 1 million euros?
The situation with Pau Lopez would not please him, which is why he would consider leaving OM in order to experience a more interesting end to his career than being second behind the Spaniard. On the other hand, he would wait to have a discussion with Jorge Sampaoli to make his decision.

Mandanda must not leave OM because the club needs him and because he is better than Pau Lopez – Larqué
Interviewed on RMC Sport, former AS Saint-Etienne player Jean Michel Larqué believes that Steve Mandanda should stay at Olympique de Marseille. According to him, the Olympian goalkeeper is much better than Pau Lopez and deserves to start at OM next season.
“Mandanda will make the choice he wants but Rennes is a bad choice. Yes it is an ambitious club and needs a goalkeeper but when I observe what is happening at OM with the goalkeepers, I quite simply have the impression that there is a starter and a substitute. There is clearly one goalkeeper who is better than the other, it’s Steve Mandanda. Steve Mandanda must not leave OM because the club needs him and because he is better than Pau Lopez. That’s why I think he would make a bad choice by leaving OM. It’s the best asset for them in goal. » Jean Michel Larque – Source: RMC Sport (10/06/2022)
