He was supposed to make his comeback on stage, but nothing went as planned. RnB singer Matt Houston stood out at the “Back to Basic 2000” concert on Saturday night in Paris. The show brought together some figures from the scene of those years, such as Willy Denzey, Yannick, Nuttea, Slaï, Tribal King or the L5.
During his performance, Matt Houston weakened, letting the public believe that he was in a trance. Disappointed, the audience then begins to boo him. Very quickly, the interpreter of “Cinderella of the ghetto” begins to get carried away, making the fingers of honor and insulting his audience. In front of this stage, the technical team cut the microphone of the artist, before pushing him towards the exit, under the gaze of the bewildered spectators.
“He arrived on stage completely torn”
Several videos showing Matt Houston getting angry before leaving the stage have flourished on social networks, accompanied by comments from particularly disappointed fans. “Glad to have witnessed the end of Matt Houston’s career,” “He arrived on stage completely torn and was unable to sing. It was sad…”, or even “When I think there was his daughter in the room… I felt sorry for her”.
The next day, the singer posts a video on Instagram explaining his anger. The public would have “spit on him”, he justifies. “I’m being asked for an apology, there won’t be any, not this time, you see! They break my balls, I answer, ”he gets carried away.
This is not the artist’s first controversy. He had already stood out recently after insulting the rapper Diam’s during the release of a documentary dedicated to him.
The artist ousted from the tour
On Monday, the organizers of “Back to Basics” presented a message of apology to the spectators present last Saturday at the concert. “The production apologizes for the slippage of the artist Matt Houston during his performance at the Zénith de Paris on Saturday June 18, 2022. The tour dissociates itself from these remarks and this attitude towards the public”, indicated the production.
Finally, the team indicates that it has made the decision not to “continue with the artist and that he will no longer be part of the Back to Basic tour since June 19, 2022”.
