A lot of movements for the old Caennais this Monday afternoon! Romain Hamouma, Thomas Callens and Djibril Diaw have all officially changed clubs. We take stock of these various announcements.
Romain Hamouma remains in Ligue 1
After ten seasons at AS Saint-Etienne, Romain Hamouma will not extend his long adventure with the Greens, freshly relegated to Ligue 2. At 35, he has decided to continue his career under the Corsican sun and will try to raise the challenge to stay in Ligue 1. The former weed winger has signed up for a season in the colors of the promoted clubs. With SM Caen, he had played 69 games for 13 goals and 13 assists in all competitions, between 2010 and 2012.
Thomas Callens will discover Ligue 2
At 23, Thomas Callens will discover Ligue 2 for the first time in his career, since he has just been loaned to FC Annecy for a year. At the promoted club, the young goalkeeper will find another former Caennais in the person of Steve Shamal. Last season, he played 15 games in the reserve team of FC Lorient, with whom he made eight clean sheets. His team was in the same group as the reserve of SM Caen and finished champion of National 2. When he returns from loan, he will still have one year of contract left in Lorient. A pure product of weed training, he has never played a professional match.
Djibril Diaw on the Laval side
Pending the probable signing of Anthony Gonçalves, Stade Lavallois has just offered the services of another former Caen native. This is the Senegalese central defender Pape Djibril Diaw (27 years old). The latter did not leave an unforgettable memory in Normandy, since he played only 5 Ligue 2 matches with SM Caen during the 2019-2020 season. Under contract with the Ukrainian club Rukh Lviv until June 2024, he joined Laval for a season on loan.
