Charles Leclerc made the best possible comeback yesterday at the Canadian Grand Prix, finishing 5th, but he still conceded 15 more points to his rival, Max Verstappen, in the F1 driver standings.
Sergio Perez remains ahead of him but with a three-point lead after his retirement in Montreal, but the Monegasque remains optimistic about the fight against Red Bull in the races to come.
“It motivates me because of course I know that the rhythm is in the car. As long as it’s mathematically possible, I believe in it.”
“I’m not worried, I’m just extremely motivated to finally have a clean weekend and show that we are here and that we are strong. So yes, at Silverstone, I hope we can do it, with evolutions , win and score those big points that we’ve been missing for a few races.”
“We can see that obviously Red Bull has had some issues as well, so yes reliability is definitely going to be a big factor.
“But that’s what we need whenever we have tougher weekends like this weekend, just to get some good points and that’s what we did in Canada.”
