Chris Evans annoyed that Disney cut lesbian couple’s kiss in ‘Buzz Lightyear’

Chris Evans is frankly revolted that the kiss between two women present in a scene of Buzz Lightning, the new Pixar film, was cut during editing. And even if Disney finally agreed to reintegrate the sequence in response to the many criticisms, the actor who lends his voice to the hero (François Civil having taken care of the dubbing in French version) estimates that it should not even have caused debate.

“I’m a little frustrated that it’s just a topic of discussion. The goal is to get to a point where it will be the norm. And it doesn’t have to unleash torrents (of comments),” explained to variety the star of Captain America.

A vision of the future

“Look, it’s an honor to be a part of something that takes this initiative, but the point is to look back one day and be shocked at how long it took us to get to this point,” continued Chris Evans.

FYI, the scene in question shows a lesbian character named Alisha Hawthorne kissing his wife. A sequence that cost the animated film a ban in many countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Malaysia. Buzz Lightning hits theaters June 22.
