Maignan encense le “karting” Giroud avec une référence… à Benzema

After the coronation of AC Milan this weekend in Serie A, Mike Maignan posted many photos of celebrations on the networks. By saluting in particular the season of Olivier Giroud, whom Karim Benzema had described as “karting” two years ago.

The (first) reference is to be found in a text by Booba. That of the song “Inédit”, released at the end of 2002, as a bonus for the reissue of his first album “Temps mort”. “Little, don’t mix F1 and karting, we’re not back in the bins, because we never left”, launches the rapper from Boulogne at the start of the verse. A punchline that has become legendary, which today sticks to Olivier Giroud’s crampons. The fault of Karim Benzema, a great lover of French rap and a long time pocket of Booba.

During a live Instagram with youtubeur Mohamed Henni in March 2020, the Real Madrid striker had tackled the one who many presented as his rival in the France team. At the time when Benzema was excluded from the selection by Didier Deschamps. “We don’t confuse F1 and karting. And I’m nice. Me, I know that I’m F1”, had dropped KB9.

Giroud had responded to Benzema at the end of 2020

Two years later, this tackle is part of Giroud’s CV. Well in spite of himself. Mike Maignan recalled it after the coronation of AC Milan this weekend in Serie A. In his Instagram story, the Rossoneri goalkeeper posted many photos of celebrations. On one of them, the former Losc doorman poses alongside Giroud in the locker room. With the caption: “I like this kind of karting”. All accompanied by a laughing smiley and a heart.

Great craftsman of the 19th Scudetto won by Milan, the 35-year-old striker, who arrived last summer from Chelsea, has scored 14 goals and delivered 4 assists in 38 appearances this season (all competitions combined). By slamming in particular a double in Sassuolo, Sunday, during the title match (0-3).

At the end of 2020, six months after Benzema’s spade, Giroud replied to him during an interview with Téléfoot, the TF1 program: “It made me laugh knowing him. I have no grudge against that .”
